It replaces our Text Types Booklet and Common French Mistakes resources.
What's inside
Student Booklet (77 pages)
How the written exam works: Part A (response to a stimulus, about 150 words) and Part B (extended response, about 200 words), what markers reward and a six-step routine.
Part 1 · Text types: ten key written text types (account, article, blog posting, diary entry, email, formal letter, informal letter, message, review, speech), each on a two-page spread with purpose, reader, register, a layout template, key phrases, an annotated model set in a French-speaking community and a quick task.
Part 2 · Writing toolkit: decoding the task, PEEL paragraphs, linking words, time frames, complex structures sorted by Year 11 and Year 12 level, precise vocabulary and idioms, using the stimulus, planning your word count. Nine exercises.
Part 3 · Error clinic: nine error families with corrections and rules, plus four levels of correction practice (from single sentences to a full email) and a register exercise.
Part 4 · Exam practice bank: 16 exam-style tasks, four per unit (C'est la vie, Voyages, Les médias, Le monde qui nous entoure): 8 Part A tasks with original French stimulus texts and 8 Part B tasks, each with a planning box and a full lined answer page.
Self-assessment checklist and progress tracker.
Teacher Answer Key & Marking Guide (22 pages): every answer, an Érudits writing rubric with mark bands, feedback codes, moderation tips, marking notes for all 16 tasks and a suggested 12-lesson sequence for each year.
Annotated Model Answers (17 pages): 12 full-length models (6 Part A, 6 Part B, all four units) annotated for content, structure, range and accuracy, each with a rubric commentary, plus a Sound-band response for comparison and moderation.
Who it's for
Teachers of Year 11 and Year 12 French: Second Language ATAR who want one reliable writing resource for both years, for teaching text types, building accuracy, setting timed practice and marking consistently. Four tasks have no published model, so you can use them as unseen assessments.
Why teachers will like it
Made in WA, for WA classrooms: built by a Western Australian French teacher around the four ATAR units.
Aligned to the current ATAR course: text types, unit topics and the two parts of the written examination.
Original stimulus texts and models set in French-speaking communities: France, Québec, Switzerland, Morocco and more.
Print-friendly: white pages and clean layouts that photocopy well.
Editable Word files included, so you can adapt any task for your class.
The rubric is an Érudits classroom rubric, not the official SCSA marking key. This is not official SCSA material.
